Guwahati: Amidst the Durga puja celebrations, the city police on Tuesday launched a novel initiative to ensure safe and secure puja festivities in Guwahati.
The Joint Commissioner of Police Partha Mahanta along with DCP EGPD S. Bora, DCP WGPD N Mahanta & ADCP Traffic D. Bora hit the streets of Guwahati by taking out a motorcycle patrolling unit.
Informing about the initiative, Guwahati police took to their official Twitter handle saying, “In a novel initiative, JCP Sh. Partha Mahanta, along with DCP EGPD Sh. S. Bora, DCP WGPD Sh. N Mahanta & ADCP Traffic Sh. D. Bora hit the streets of Guwahati today, leading a motorcycle patrol to ensure safe & secure Puja festivities.”
Earlier on Monday, the Guwahati Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory to ensure the safety of the public.
As per the advisory, no commercial goods carrying vehicles of 6 wheel and above shall be allowed to ply on NH-37 and NH-27 falling under Guwahati Metropolitan city from 6 am to 10 pm with effect from October 12 to October 17, 2021.
Only three and four wheels LMV goods carrying vehicles shall be allowed to enter the city from 4 am to 9 pm on October 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16, 2021.
