Guwahati: With hundreds of Indian nationals including a large number of students continued to live in panic in the trouble-prone Ukraine currently and airspace of the country being closed, a Digboi girl Rajashree Boro on Friday in a video call had informed that she has been stuck in Ternopil (a city in western Ukraine) along with four more Indians including one boy.
She also stated that she along with the other four Indians have spent the night in a bunker for half an hour amid the Russian invasion in Ukraine on Friday.
In the video, she also revealed that an agent had informed her that they will be evacuated very soon.
“We are new in this country, neither we speak Ukrainian nor we understand the language so that’s also a major issue here. A senior from our hostel had helped us in locating the bunker and then we managed to enter. The hotel where I stay is a technical hostel. We are five Indians here, four girls and one boy. One of them is from Tamil Nadu, one from West Bengal, me and one of my friends from Assam and the boy hails from Arunachal Pradesh.”
On being asked about food, water and other essential supplies, Rajashree replied, “We have stockpiled all the essential items last night and wrapped them with packing tape to keep items properly protected.”
Rajashree further informed that the Ukraine Government has also limited the withdrawal of cash and prohibited the issuance of foreign currencies to the general public after the nation declared martial law.
Meanwhile, in the latest advisory, the Indian embassy in Kyiv advises Indian citizens stranded in Ukraine to paste Indian flags on vehicles, while moving towards borders with Hungary and Romania, to be identified for evacuation.
