Guwahati, May 24, 2019
Torrential rainfall accompanied by gusty winds on Friday early morning triggered flash floods in several parts of Guwahati city.
Severe water logging in Chandmari, Anil Nagar including the Jorabat areas caused massive traffic snarls earlier in the day.
It may be mentioned that earlier the Regional Meteorological Centre had predicted moderate spells of rainfall across the state of Assam including Guwahati, Biswanath, Golaghat, Majuli, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Dhemaji and Tinsukia districts.
While the Northeast states have been experiencing average pre-monsoon activities since the month of May with moderate weather, parts of Assam along with other Northeastern states are likely to experience more showers marking an onset for the monsoons.
