Weekend curfew in Delhi; Bus, Metro to run at full capacity

Guwahati: The Delhi government has announced weekend curfew in the state after 5,482 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in a single day.

However, the government has asked people not to panic as buses and metro trains will run at 100 percent capacity, but with strict COVID protocols.

The decision was taken during a Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) meeting to review the COVID-19 situation in the national capital.

As in night curfew, which is already in force, those engaged in essential services are exempted from any restrictions.

Government employees, except those in essential services, will be asked to work from home. Private offices will remain open with 50 percent capacity.

The positivity rate in Delhi has now risen to 8.37 percent. The city now has 14,889 active cases.

On Monday, 4,099 new cases and one death were reported in 24 hours. Today, cases went up to 5,481, the highest in more than seven months; three deaths were also reported.
