Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh’s capital city of Itanagar to undergo a lockdown for a week from Monday to July 12. The state government decided to impose the lockdown in a wake of the rising numbers of COVID 19 positive cases in the capital district.
The neighbouring state’s chief minister Pema Khandu on Saturday, informing the development, said, “Itanagar capital complex will be under lockdown from July 6 (Monday) till 12th July (Sunday). Detailed guidelines and SOP for compliance will be issued.”
Khandu also called on Arunachal Pradesh’s Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at Raj Bhavan during the day and discussed on COVID19 pandemic, development and security issues of the state.
Arunachal Pradesh has so far witnessed 252 COVID-19 positive cases. At least 176 cases are active and 75 are discharged. So far only one patient has died from virus-related complications in the state.
In Assam also, COVID 19 situation has been alarming with rapid growth in the numbers of COVID 19 positive cases. The entire state was under a total lockdown on Saturday with Guwahati continued to be under a lockdown and other towns in the state were also observing the weekend lockdown.
With some 134 positive cases detected from the capital city of Guwahati alone on Friday, the state’s total COVID count was nearing the 10,000 marks. So far, some 9799 cases were detected in the state till filling of the report and one more person has reportedly died on Saturday taking the Assam’s COVID death toll to 15.
