Guwahati, August 10: Meghalaya Ministers are now entitled to vehicles that cost Rs 20 lakh. The Meghalaya Cabinet on Thursday approved costlier vehicles for ministers and officials.
The Cabinet also fixed the maximum price of a vehicle for the Governor and the Chief Minister at Rs 40 lakh each, as informed by Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.
“The Cabinet ministers would be entitled to vehicles that cost Rs 20 lakh. The upgradation decision was the need of the hour. It is not a matter of comfort but a matter of necessity. People of Meghalaya will understand our point,” he told media.
Tynsong further informed that the Cabinet approved the slab of Rs 12 lakh for the purchase of vehicles for the Director General of Police and other officials of equivalent rank.
“The purchase slab for Commissioners and Secretaries is Rs 10 lakh, Rs 9 lakh for officials in the rank of the IGP, Rs 7.5 lakh for heads of departments and Rs 7 lakh for district-level officials,” he added.
Meanwhile, he also informed that all government hospitals in Meghalaya will provide 72 drugs free of cost.
