White Sandalwood Logs Worth Over Crores Seized In Assam’s Hojai, 3 Held

Guwahati: A large quantity of white sandalwood logs worth crores was seized and arrested three person in this connection in  Dabaka, Assam’s Hojai district on Thursday.

According to sources, the white sandalwood logs were likely cut from the Dabaka Reserve forest.

The arrested accused have been identified as Abdul Aahad, Kamrul Islam and Hilal Ahmed.

The logs were found in Kamrul Islam’s home Nahor village, sources added.

However, the matter is being investigated by the police.

Meanwhile, the forest department seized illegal Holling tree logs near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border in March of this year.

Under the supervision of T C Ranjith Ram (IFS) Divisional Forest office of Digboi forest division staffs of Margherita West range forest office and Lekhajan forest beat office, illicit valuable Hollong tree logs were recovered.
