Who is Assam’s next CM? “Final call to be taken after BJP legislature party meet”, says Ranjeet Dass

The meeting is supposed to be held at around 12 noon in Assam Legislative Assembly Auditorium

Guwahati: Amid the ongoing confusion over the choice of the chief ministerial candidate for Assam, BJP state president Ranjeet Dass stated that the decision will be finalized after a BJP legislature party meeting here in Guwahati on Sunday.

The meeting is supposed to be held at around 12 noon in Assam Legislative Assembly Auditorium.

Four BJP national leaders BL Santosh, Arun Singh, Narendra Singh Tomar, Baijayant Panda will be arriving in Guwahati city on Sunday for the meeting.

“The final decision for Chief Ministerial post will be taken in presence of two observers from the party following a meeting. We have invited all the MLAs for the meeting at around 11 am,” said Ranjeet Dass before the media on Saturday.

Dass also claimed that there hasn’t been any political tussle in the party regarding position or power.

“It never happened earlier and will never be in the future as well,” added Dass confidently.

Earlier, while interacting with the media in New Delhi on Saturday, Himanta Biswa Sarma also said, “There will be a BJP legislature party meeting in Guwahati on Sunday and the final decision will be taken after the meeting.”

However, there was no media interaction by the present Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal following the party meeting in New Delhi.

Due to flight scarcity, both Sarbananda Sonowal and Himanta Biswa Sarma stayed back in Delhi. They will return to Assam tonight, along with two observers from the party.
