Will Fight Against AASU’s Political Party Head-On And Win: Pijush Hazarika

AASU will initiate the process of forming the new political party after February 2020

Assam Health & Family Welfare (State) minister, Pijush Hazarika on January 19th, 2020, said that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will fight against the All Assam Students’ Union’s new political party head-on and win the 2021 Assembly election.

He also congratulated the students’ body for taking the initiative to form a political party. “There will be a political fight against the party,” he said in Dhubri while expressing his confidence in winning the next Assembly Election.

Accusing the AASU, which is an influential students’ body in the state, of deceiving the people of the state, the minister said, “AASU is a liar organisation. It has not allowed the state to move ahead by rapidly telling the lies.”

Talking about the base year for identification of illegal foreigners, Hazarika said the base year laid down by the historic Assam Accord signed in 1985 between the Government of India, state government and the leaders of the Assam Movement is 1966. “1971 is not the base year,” he added.

It needs to be mentioned that the AASU has called for the need to form a new regional political party in the state amid protests against the controversial Citizenship Act, which has triggered fears of a fresh influx of immigrants into the Northeast region.

“After February, the issue of forming a new party will be taken forward in a forceful manner,” AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath said on January 17th, 2020.
