The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is headed for a comfortable majority in the 17th Lok Sabha. Congratulating the BJP karyakartas and the supporters, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that he will follow the footsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to form a government in the state.
“We aim to follow the footsteps of Modi ji to form a government in the state. Modi ji worked for the development of the nation during his tenure in the last five years,” said Sonowal while addressing the media at the BJP headquarters in Hengrabari, Guwahati.
The BJP is looking to surpass its 2014 tally in Assam, as it is leading in nine seats with Congress trailing behind with huge margin. The Chief Minister further expressed his gratitude to all the karyakartas and supporters including NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma for the stellar performance in the Lok Sabha elections.
“This victory is the result of the hard work of all the workers, supporters including Sarma who made sure to walk the extra mile during the elections. I am thankful to them. I am also thankful to all the MLAs and MPs for their support,” he added.
