The cash dole approved by the central government for the Mizoram Bru migrants living in North Tripura is not being paid by the government since the month of November last year, following which 11 Bru migrant organizations led by Mizoram Bru Displaced Peoples Forum (MBDPF) wrote to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on February 7th, 2019, seeking the immediate release of the pending cash dole.

The rehabilitation package includes of giving Rs 5 per day to each adult migrant, Rs 2.5 to each minor, 600-gram rice to each adult on a daily basis, three soaps in a year, one pair of slippers every year and a mosquito net in every three years.

The MBDPF in the letter said that the Centre extended ration supplies and other facilities to the Bru inmates living in a transit camp from October 2018 till January 2019 after a halt of 21 days. The supplies were again extended till March 31, 2019, but the cash dole was not received by the transit camp.

The MBDPF also informed that a series of protests will be held demanding the immediate release of cash doles and other facilities.
