Guwahati: A woman was arrested for duping several job aspirants in Assam’s Tinsukia district on the pretext of providing with a job in Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Oil India Limited (OIL).

As per reports, the woman, identified as Abismita Changmai, had opened a consultancy firm in Digboi.

Meanwhile, police also arrested Changmai’s accomplice identified as Mahendra Neog from Doomdooma in this connection.

According to sources, both the culprits used to take huge amount of money from the job aspirant by assuring them employment in IOCL and OIL in the name of Union petroleum minister.

After failing to provide job to aspirant, on Saturday, the victim family members’ gheraoed Abismita’s residence at Itavata locality in Digboi and asked her to return back their money.

Later, a complaint was lodged by the victim’s family members at Digboi police station.

The case was registered under the section 406/420/506/120(b)/386 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
