World’s largest National Flag – Indian Tricolour ‘TIRANGA’ unveiled on occasion of 74th Army Day

Guwahati: World’s largest National Flag – Indian Tricolour ‘TIRANGA’ unveiled on the Golden dunes of Jaisalmer by the Southern Command on the occasion of 74th Army Day on Saturday.

Taking to Twitter, the Indian Army said, “Spanning 33750 sq ft, the khadi flag epitomises the indomitable spirit and aspirations of every Indian.”

Similarly, the Gajraj Corps of the Indian Army celebrated Army Day at Tezpur in Assam on January 15, 2022.

 In an impressive solemn ceremony at Tezpur War memorial, Lt Gen Ravin Khosla, AVSM, SM, VSM, GOC, Gajraj Corps on behalf of all ranks paid homage to those who have made supreme sacrifice and complimented all ranks for their dedication and devotion to duty while being deployed along the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh.

It may be recalled that it was on January 15 in 1949, that Lieutenant General KM Cariappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander. Thus, this day is celebrated to recognise this proud moment, when an Indian had assumed command of the Indian Army.

A large number of Officers, JCOs and Jawans of Tezpur Garrison participated in the event and paid homage to the martyrs who had laid down their lives to protect the nation’s sovereignty and integrity.
