Guwahati: With the COVID-19 pandemic restricting all major functions, events and gatherings, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to mark the 6th International Yoga Day, spent his Sunday morning at his residence in Dibrugarh practicing yoga and celebrating the day.
Sonowal was seen celebrating the day with legislators Prasanta Phukan and Rituparna Baruah.
Sonowal tweeted, “Practiced Yoga with colleagues Prasanta Phukan and Rituparna Baruah at my residence in Dibrugarh on #InternationalYogaDay.”
He added that Yoga has given the world India’s ancient heritage of physical, mental and spiritual wellness. Let’s do Yoga and build a healthier society.
International Day of Yoga is observed on 21st June every year to spread awareness about the importance and effects of yoga on the health of the people. The word ‘yoga’ is derived from Sanskrit which means to join or to unite.
