Guwahati, November 20: A survey conducted by the World Travel and Tourism Council- India Initiative II (WTTC-II) in collaboration with Hotelivate has reportedly revealed Meghalaya as the least favoured destination list.
Not just Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh followed by Manipur comes in the least favoured list as per the survey.
Despite being the “Scotland of East”, Shillong failed to attract tourist in large number.
The reason behind the limited number of tourists include several reasons.
Right from difficulty in transportation to geographical challenges.
The States were evaluated on a series of parameters which included number of branded hotel rooms, literacy, network, marketing campaigns and so on.
Nagaland, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Sikkim were also ranked in lesser number of visitors.
As per data collection it was reported that the Southern States had more tourists(Foreign, domestic) than the hill stations.
Tamil Nadu had the maximum tourists in comparison to other States.
All the 8 States including Assam had the least foreign visitors.
