Zero Rhino Poaching Incident Recorded At KNP In Nagaon In 2019

In a major breakthrough, no rhino poaching incident was recorded at Kaziranga National Park (KNP) in Nagaon district of Assam in the year 2019.

Speaking to Time8, Nagaon Superintendent of Police, Shankar Rai Medhi said, “There are basically two forest ranges of KNP that falls under Nagaon district, namely Burapahar Range and Bagori Range. Both the ranges come under Jakhalabandha Police Station. We have ensured zero rhino poaching incident at KNP falling under Nagaon district, in the year 2019.”

Medhi further informed that 21 poachers were apprehended in 2019 under Jakhalabandha Police Station.

As per information provided by Nagaon Police, one poaching incident was recorded in 2011, nine in 2012, 16 in 2013, nine in 2014, nine 10 in 2015, 11 in 2016, four each in 2017 and 2018.

Medhi congratulated his team and said that strict vigil against poaching activities to continue in the district.
