Assam’s sensation and heartthrob of every young Assamese, singer-actor Zubeen Garg slammed the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) for forging a fresh alliance with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Expressing his displeasure, he said, “The AGP is power hungry and hence joined hands with the BJP. A few days back, the AGP was actively opposing Centre-proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.”  He added, “I will continue to oppose the Bill as I did in the past.”

It may be mentioned that two months after pulling out over the much-debated Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, the AGP and BJP are back as allies in poll-bound Assam.  The Lok Sabha elections in Assam will be held in three phases on April 11th, 18th and 23rd, 2019. The results of the election will be announced on May 23rd, 2019.
